November 2009 Muir Copper Canyon Farms receives the Silver Platter Award in recognition of dedication and service to the restaurant industry from the Utah Restaurant Association. October 2009 During its Washington Public Policy Conference in September, the United Fresh Produce Association (UFPA) presented PRO*ACT LLC with the Produce Industry Advocate of the Year Award. The award is presented annually to the UFPA member that has demonstrated outstanding support for the Association’s public policy advocacy and has worked to ensure the advancement of policy objectives with elected leaders and administration officials. January 2009 November 2008 MCCF welcomes Mike Muir to his new position as sales manager. Mike enters produce business in 2000. Mike loves working with customers on a daily basis and has learned how to handle their unique demands. Mike graduated in 2005 from the University of Utah, and in 2007 earned a M.B.A. from Westminster College. Mike now looks forward to continuing to bring the best to our customers for many years to come. MCCF bids Farewell to Darren Springer a 10 year employee who recently accepted a position as Director of Client Service Systems for PRO*ACT, America’s leading distributor of fresh produce to the foodservice industry. July 2008 One of our local suppliers, Beehive Cheese, places First, Second and Third Place at the American Cheese Society Annual Cheese Competition in Chicago, IL on Friday, July 25, 2008. May 2008 Phillip Muir was elected to the Board of Directors of United Fresh Association, at the annual convention in Las Vegas in May 2008. He will hold an at large seat for the two year term. United Fresh is the fresh produce industry association. It has a strong presence on Capitol Hill representing the interests of the fresh fruit and vegetable industry, the fresh-cut processing industry, and agriculture at large. United Fresh is the gathering place, educational resource, and advocate for growers, shippers, distributors and wholesalers, fresh-cut operators, retailers, foodservice operators, and associated suppliers to the industry. It is interesting to note that both Phil's father and grandfather served as chairman for the fore runner organization, the United Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Association. The Muir family has a long legacy of industry service. Phil was part of the inaugural class of the United Fresh Produce Executive Development Course at Cornell University in 2007. Congratulations Phil! May 2008 We are pleased to announce our recognition as "Best Of State" in the Food Services & Distributors category for the second year in a row. April 2008 Copper Canyon Farms nominated Chef Jonathon Davey from Brigham Young University has won the 2008 “Produce Excellence in Food Service” award for the Business in Industry & Colleges category.
